Gameleira General Information

GETTING HERE
From Congress Arizona, head north on Highway 89 for about a mile and a half,
Turn Left on to CR-62 (Date Creek Road),
Pull over and zero out your odometer.
Drive 14.5 miles (there are mile markers along the way). Entrance is on the left.
Call for the gate code if not opened.
Enter through the gate and follow the signs to the community center.
Please drive slowly so you don’t stir up dust.
Note: CR-62 is a county maintained unpaved road. Make sure you have a good spare tire in case you get a flat. Please keep to the right especially on blind corners. If you drive too slow it can be a bumpy ride in spots. The “sweet spot” for most cars seems to be 25-35 mph.

CHAPEL
Open 24/7 to all for prayer and meditation (unless there is a work scheduled).

HIKING:
The property borders thousands of acres of Arizona public land to be explored

CAMPING
SHOWERS/TOILETS: Men’s and Women’s toilets, sinks, & warm showers.
ELECTRICITY: outlets in the shower-house, communal & camping areas.
WATER: well water spigots in the communal & camping areas. Good for cooking and to drink.
TRASH: please pack out all your trash.
SHADE: we do have some shade structures but bring your own if you like.
FOOD: please bring your own food, coolers, and cooking equipment. Please pack out any left over food.
SEATING: bring a good camp chair.
CAMPFIRES: Fires allowed in designated areas only. We have lots of mesquite branches all over. Bring a saw or axe.
There are times of the year when open fires are not allowed due to fire danger.
CHILDREN: Please bring them...they will love it here.
DOGS: All friendly dogs are welcomed here. It’s best to keep them within sight at all times or on a leash because of coyote and snake sightings.

HEAT RELATED: On hot days avoid strenuous activities, dehydration, and overheating. The summer mornings and
evenings here are very pleasant. Light clothing and a wide brimmed hat can help keep you cool.

SNAKES: there have been rattlesnake sightings here during the warmer months. Please be conscious of where you are
walking at all times. They are most active between 70 and 80 degrees and can be out at night on the very hot days. They are
found mostly in shaded tree areas but sometimes they travel to hunt. Leave them alone and they will do the same. If you are
bit get to a hospital ASAP. Keep the bite area below the heart and remain calm. Keep a watchful eye on children and dogs at all times.

BEES: We have lots of mesquite trees which attract bees. Stay away from the hives and remain calm if they get near and
you will be left alone.

GENERAL
NOISE: This is a very rural and quite place. Loud music is not encouraged (unless we are singing Daime hymns!).
QUIET HOURS: 10pm to 8am.

VOLUNTEERISM: We encourage you to help us build this spiritual retreat in any way you can. Let us know what skills
you have like gardening, carpentry, cooking, organizing, etc. There is always lots to do and we would love your help if you
like. Any and all use fees may be traded for community work at our discretion.

SOLAR SYSTEM
We are completely off-grid and have a good solar system but it has it’s limits.
OK: Phone/computer chargers, hair dryers (1-2 minutes), toasters, blenders, interior/exterior lights and fans, and electric blankets. Air Conditioning units OK to run between 10am and 4pm.
NOT OK: Space heaters, slow cookers/crockpots, or electric ovens. No EV electric vehicle charging without permission.
Do not touch any solar charge controllers, power inverters, solar panels, wires, etc.
